Help Mike Epps fight his battle w cancer

For those who do not know me, hello! My name is Merisa, I am Mike's stepdaughter and I have created this Go Fund Me that will be directly benefitting him during this uncertain time.

This Go Fund Me was created for Mike Epps, owner of A to Zen in Carson City. Mike has a love for family, community, music, and arts. Mike has been largely involved with the music scene in Northern Nevada for many years and is a staple in our community.

Currently, Mike is fighting the biggest fight of his life.

In October of 2023, Mike was diagnosed with stage 3 esophageal cancer and started chemotherapy and radiation treatments which ended mid December of 2023.

January 29, 2024, Mike had the surgery to remove the tumor which removed the top of his stomach and his esophagus. During this surgery, more cancer was detected, changing the cancer to stage 4, which means more chemotherapy will be needed when he can tolerate it.

On Friday, February 2, 2024, Meredith (Mike's wife) arrived at Renown to visit Mike and found the nurses preparing him to go in for emergency surgery. Mike was somewhat non-responsive because he was not able to breathe properly.

During the emergency surgery, the doctor found that there was a leak at the site where they attached what was left of his stomach to the top of his esophagus. Due to the leak, Mike's chest cavity had filled with infection and 2 liters of fluid.

Mike has been in the Intensive Care Unit on a ventilator since the emergency surgery. It is unknown how long Mike will be in the ICU and on the ventilator, but we are remaining hopeful that his body heals.

Many people have reached out to see how they can help. Sharing this page, donating to this page, and most importantly, PRAYER for Mike, his doctors, and his wife and family are ways that the community and those that love him can help.

Meredith is going to the hospital daily to be by his side. She sits there, hoping to get a smile or to see him open his eyes and reminds him every day how much he is loved. Right now, they are keeping Mike heavily sedated and is unable to communicate.

By creating this Go Fund Me, we are hoping that this will help Mike and Meredith to alleviate some of the financial needs while they navigate the road that lies ahead.
